I am confident now is a great time to launch my venture. My name is Joshua Bradwell, the founder of The Inner Peace People CIC (Community Interest Company). I know all about what it is like to live with anxiety and depression. After battling away in 2018, I went on medication and got the help he needed, such as Cognitive Behavioral therapy and counselling.
However, professional help is not always available. Recovery starts for many of us in the form of self-help, such as meeting people and finding those calming places, which makes us feel content and at peace. Most importantly accepting ourselves. In 2019 I left my job in a call centre after starting to experience poor mental health again. I wanted to do something about the broader issues people were experiencing with their mental health.
In September 2019, I went onto a business programme via the Prince's Trust because I wanted to form my social enterprise. I wanted to be there for people experiencing difficulty with their mental health. I wanted to offer an alternative to another cafe or coffee shop, focusing solely on allowing people to open up about their mental health over a cuppa and a slice of cake in tranquil, calming surroundings.
In late 2019 I hosted eight pop-up cafes in different locations in the Black Country and helped more than 100 people. Many success stories came out of those events such as friendships made, increased motivation and brought the community together. Now I have tried my idea out I have now formed my social enterprise. I reinvest profits to make the brand better to enable it to expand and send out positive messages to the public.
I'm a one-person band and has had the support of Dudley Council, The Prince's Trust, People Plus and the i.SE (Initiative for Social Entrepreneurs. I will very shortly be launching our pop-up cafe's. Please keep an eye on our social media and the events tab on this website!
The bottom line of our motive is to save lives. GP's , Counselors and therapists are not always available and are not always the preferred choice of support for people suffering with their mental health. We are a self-help service popping-up in communities across the Midlands to be there for you, we also offer an alternative form of escapism in order to allow you to relax.
We like to allow people to chat openly about their mental health or anything in general over drinks and a slice of cake.
We also offer themed events such as arts and crafts, games, therapists, meditation and inspirational visits from people which have experienced difficulty with their mental health.
